Nature of request
Alice Pikot of Heydon states that she had empleaded Richard de Katesbiri by a writ of novel disseisin concerning tenements in Thorley near Bishop's Stortford, but that she came to an agreement with him that she would give him a quitclaim and her charter of feoffment for the tenements, in exchange for £100; but that Robert de Rudham, whom she had employed on this matter, deceived her in collusion with Richard, receiving the recognisance for the £100 in his own name, and levying much of it for himself. She requests a writ to William de Berford and his companions, before whom the recognisance was made, to hear and determine this recognisance, and the deception practised on her, so that she can have her recovery.

She is to have a writ of conspiracy against the aforesaid Richard and Robert, formulated for her case, containing the whole statement of the matter etc.

A Latin summary of this petition is found on a roll from the parliament of May 1319 (Docs. Illus. English History pp.50-51). The recognizance in favour of Robert was made at the octave of Michaelmas, 11 Edward II (1317).
