Note
Dated on the guard to '? c. 1340' with reference to the arrest of Spanish ships during the war with France, and CCR 1339-41 pp.512-3 and 625.CCR 1339-41 pp.512-3 is an order to the Sheriff of Southampton to seize the goods and merchandise of Spanish merchants in reprisal for an attack by men from Santander and Castro Urdiales on the ship of Thomas Symon of Sandwich, dated 20 August 1340. CCR 1339-41 p.625 is an order not to harm Spanish merchants in Flanders, dated 1 September 1340. It is not obvious that either is relevant.
