Reference
SC 8/67/3311
Date
[1321-1327]
Description
Petitioners
Richard de Pympe.
Name(s)
de Pympe, Richard
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Richard de Pympe states that he, along with others named in the writ, became a mainpernor for Walter de Maydenstane; and that, although he has paid his part of the sum due, the Sheriff of Kent, ignoring the others, is demanding the remainder of the debt from him, and distraining him for it. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be sent to the Exchequer, for them to see if he has paid his share of this sum; and if he has, they are to have it levied from the other mainpernors insofar as they can: provided always that the king is served.
Places mentioned
Kent.
People mentioned
Walter de Maydenstane (Maidstone).
Note
CCR 1313-8 p.4 is dated 27 July 1313: the petition must date from after this date. However, the French endorsement would suggest that it is rather later, probably from the 1320s.
