Note
James de Pykeryng represented Westmorland in the parliaments of 1362, 1365, 1377, 1378, 1379 and 1382 (CCR 1360-4 p.440 (17 November 1362), CCR 1364-8 p.169 (27 February 1365); CCR 1377-81 pp.105 (5 December 1377), 221 (16 November 1378) and 252 (27 May 1379), and CCR 1381-5 p.227 (24 October 1382). Of these parliaments, the writs for expenses for the October parliament of 1377 were dated on the eve of St Nicholas' day (5 December). If this was when the attack took place, James would have been able to present his petition at Gloucester in 1378, and this is the overwhelming likelihood, although, as the parliament of 1379 was sitting on the translation of St Nicholas (9 May), there is a small chance of this petition dating from the January parliament of 1380.
