Description
Petitioners
Joan Pycot, widow of Peter Pycot.
Name(s)
Pycot, Joan
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Joan, widow of Peter Pycot, formerly Sheriff of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, states that in the first year of the reign of the King's father, her husband was ordered to take into the King's hand the lands of the Templars at Flawford in Nottinghamshire. She is now being distrained to render account for the issues of these lands, although she has no roll or remembrance through which she can do this. She asks that she might be charged for the time when her husband had them in his keeping, which was less than half a year, at the same amount as Richard de Thorp, to whom he delivered them, paid; and she requests a writ to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to charge her this amount and to discharge her of the other.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be delivered to the Treasurer, and he will do justice. But it seems to the council that if he did not receive anything except the lands, that it will be enough if she answers for the issues for the time when Peter had the keeping of them.
