Nature of request
Margaret, widow of Henry Pycard, and John, his son, state that John de Cusancia, formerly Prior of Bermondsey, granted to Henry Pycard the manor of Charlton in Kent, with the advowson of the church of the same vill, for term of life, and granted the reversion to Margaret and John, for term of life: and, because he was an alien, this was ratified and confirmed by the king. They presented to the church several times, but during the most recent vacancy, because of the war between England and France, and because the Prior of Bermondsey is an alien, the King has made the presentation, contrary to his confirmation and ratification of the grant. They request a remedy, and that their presentee might be received.
