Nature of request
John de Preston states that the king's father granted him £20 worth of land for life, for his long service, and that on the advice of Hugh le Despenser he granted him a bailiwick in the Forest of Dean, called the bailiwick of Blakeney, until he could provide for him elsewhere. The present King has granted him this bailiwick to hold at pleasure: he requests the King's charter to hold it for life, as Henry le Sqiler did, or that the king might provide for him elsewhere, in discharge of his father's soul.
