Nature of request
Amalui Pelet makes three requests:1) He states that the king has given the castellany of Puynormand and bailiwick of Villefranche to Elias Audoyn for less than it is worth, and that Elias is oppressing the people, which may result in harm to the king. Amalui offers a larger sum for the bailiwick and castellany, with good pledges to the Constable of Bordeaux that he will pay the farm on time.2) He asks that for his own security he and his people might be bale to bear arms in the duchy.3) He asks the king to order the Provost of St-Emilion and of Libourne, and the Castellan of Puynormand to take him and his lawful possessions into their protection against all people.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the first petition, the Seneschal of Gascony and Constable of Bordeaux are to be ordered to inform themselves about the contents of the petition, and to do what seems to them to be done, for the benefit of the king and without harm to the people.With regard to the second petition, the Seneschal is to be ordered to inform himself and to do what is to be done for the preservation of the peace and without prejudice to anyone, and as according to the laws and customs of those parts etc.With regard to the third, it is to be before the king (coram rege).
