Nature of request
Adam de Penreth states that John de Harcla disseised him of a carucate of land in Penrith, and then gave that land to Andrew de Harcla. He could never have recovery of the land in Andrew's lifetime, but it is now in the king's hand through his forfeiture, and he requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Good people are to be appointed to inquire into the truth in the presence etc. And when the inquest has been returned the king is to be informed.

The commission for CIM 1307-49 no.662 is dated 24 May 17 Edward II (1324), and the inquisition was held on the feast of St Matthew 18 Edward II (21 September 1324).CCR 1327-30 pp.6-7 is a later order to return the lands, in the king's hand for rebellion against Edward II, to Adam. It is dated 5 February 1327.
