Nature of request
Arnold de Percy makes six complaints against his younger brother William and requests a remedy. He states that after committing these trespasses, William has purchased a protection to evade accountability.1) He complains that William has mistreated their father, who is unable to look after himself, and demised him of his lands.2) He complains that William tried to provoke discord between him and his father and requests a remedy from the king's court.3) He complains that William seized a fish-pond that their father had given him, and took the fish with force and arms. He requests a remedy.4) He complains that William had two squires seize the man who looked after Arnold's equipment at Kildale.5) He states that William the younger has not paid his father the rent he owes him for the manor of Ormesby.6) He states that he has also not paid his father the rent for the manor of Crathorne.

Note
CCR 1279-88 p.381 is dated 22 January 1285, and would seem to suggest that at this stage William has been cleared of the accusations against him.However, CCW 1244-1326 p.26 is dated 28 February 1285. The petition would seem to date from about this period.The letters of attorney in CPR 1281-92 pp.158-9 are dated 30 April 1285, and the protection is dated 1 May.CIPM, vol. III, no.233 states that William de Percy the younger died in Wales on the Friday before St Mark, 23 Edward I (April 1295).
