Nature of request
Edmund de Pynkenye states that Humphrey de Bassingburn, formerly Sheriff of Northamptonshire, came to Edmund's lands at Woodford Halse and Eydon in Northamptonshire, and carried off his goods and chattels to the value of 100s, on the grounds that he was of the retinue of Warren del Ille, who was of the quarrel of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster. He requests a remedy.

CPR 1321-4 p.406 is dated 9 April 1324, and CPR 1324-7 p.164 is dated 28 August 1325.Humphrey de Bassingburn was Sheriff of Northamptonshire between 1 June 1321 and 9 July 1322. As the petition calls him the former sheriff, it must date from after 9 July 1322, and most probably from around 1324-5.
