The petitioner requests payment for meat bought from her husband at Stratford for the king's use, before he went to the Holy Land, stating that although Gregory de Rokesley and John de Lundres were ordered to pay the king's debts, they have not paid her, and she can prove that the debt is due.
Nature of endorsement
[One face] This petition touches the lord king concerning his debts before he travelled to the Holy Land.[On dorse] Coram rege [This seems to have been deleted].She is to go to the Exchequer among the others.It is to be passed to the Bishop of Bath and J. de London.

Dated on the guard to c.1274, with reference to the Bishop of Bath (not chancellor?) and the king's pre-crusade debts. Robert Burnell, Bishop of Bath and Wells 1275-92, was Chancellor 1274-92. His predecessor was William of Bitton (II) (died 4 December 1274), who is likely to be the bishop referred to here.
