Description
Petitioners
Alice de Osboldeston.
Name(s)
de Osboldeston, Alice
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
[The petition is badly damaged, but this appears to be the meaning.] Alice de Osboldeston states that by the fault of the Justiciar, she has not been able to have justice or recovery in her suit against various people concerning various tenements, which she claims of the gift of John de Hardelegh. She requests a writ of Chancery to the Justiciar to assign another under him to hold the sessions and do justice to the people of that land.
Nature of endorsement
The Justiciar of Wales is to be ordered by a writ of the king of Chancery that he himself is to attend to and proceed with [the matters] contained in the petition [rest of endorsement illegible].
Places mentioned
Beaumaris, [Anglesey, Wales]
North Wales.
People mentioned
William Saleman
David ap Jor (Jorwerth) ap Gyn
Wayn (Owen) [ap Jor (Jorwerth) ap Gyn], brother of David ap Jor ap Gyn
John de Hardelegh.
Note
Dated on the guard to '? c. 1316' with reference to CPR 1313-7 p.553, dated 10 October 1316, which names William Salomon as one of the attorneys appointed to the office of gauger of wine in Wales, during the absence of the holder of that office in Scotland. The dating therefore gives only a rough indication of the context of the petition.
