Nature of request
The petitioners state that they were granted the customs and subsidies on wools, hides and woolfells in Newcastle and Hartlepool in order to repay a loan made to the king, but that this agreement is continually being broken. They ask that it may be kept henceforth, considering their great losses through the breaking of this agreement and through the theft of two of their ships by people of Calais. The customs on the wools in these ships were part of their repayment, and they ask that they might be discharged of them, or allowed the same amount of customs on another occasion.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.
