Description
Petitioners
The people of Northumberland named in a schedule sewn to this petition.
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The petitioners ask the king to order his victualler at Newcastle to distribute the remaining 30 tuns of a grant of 40 tuns of wine made by the king for the relief of the people of Northumberland, or other victuals, as they are ruined and were once the best offers of the county.
Nature of endorsement
[On the dorse of SC 8/65/3207] The king will know if this has been done.
Places mentioned
Northumberland
Newcastle upon Tyne, [Northumberland].
Note
CPR 1317-21 p.247, the initial grant, is dated 24 November 1318. CCR 1318-23 p.58 is dated 13 February 1319, and would seem to be the distribution of the first 10 tuns mentioned in the petition. CCR 1318-23 p.148 is dated 8 July 1319, and would appear to be in response to this petition.
