The people request a pardon of the debts incurred in wartime that are demanded in the Exchequer following the truce.1)
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council if it please the king that for the more speedy settlement of the country by good people for the defence of the land that the king should make grace at his will.2) Coram rege.
Places mentioned
Northumberland.
Note
The petition makes mention of a truce with Scotland, truces being made in 1323 and 1328. The nature of the request and its reference to wartime makes the earlier truce the more likely candidate, but this is supposition.
