Nature of request
The men and tenants request that since they have found sufficient warrant according to the law for their discharge, and that Queen Isabella is able to take the fines and amercements that she claims from them from the lands and tenements of Randolf and his mainpernors, or that Queen Philippa by who Randolf was deputed to collect the fines and amercements should answer for him to Queen Isabella and should take it from Randolf and his mainpernors. The late king granted Queen Isabella the New Forest and Randolf was deputed to collect the fines and amercements from the eyre. Before they were collected the New Forest was seized into the king's hand and granted to Queen Philippa who appointed Randolf to collect the fines. Queen Isabella has petitioned in parliament for the fines and amercements and is now distraining them for them though they have already paid them, and although they have a supersedeas in Chancery until Randolf can be found, he has not been found to their great damage.
