Nature of request
The tenants request that since the Bench is closed and they are not able to have their right that remedy be done to them and that their goods be delivered to them concerning the abbot's demands for customs that ought not to have been made from them as they hold of ancient demesne, and the abbot did not name the tenants in his writ of attachment in the Common Bench. They also request delivery of their goods as they have taken a writ of attachment against the abbot which is pending in the Bench. It was found by inquisition that they were free and not tallagable at the will of the abbot but he has amerced them and taken their goods, chattels and beasts.1)
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the lord that upon the things of which judgement passed in favour of them in the court of the king he is not to molest them against the judgement, and that if by this reason he has taken into his hand their lands and tenements, goods or chattels, he should make delivery so that the king does not have need to interfere in this again.2) Coram magno consilio.
