The commonalty request that another justice be assigned to the county who is not of the county, as Stadyngton who was assigned with other justices to deliver the gaols of the counties, ever since he was baron has not come to the assizes or to deliver the gaol whereby the people are troubled.

The petition can be dated to c. 1340 as a reference survives in the patent rolls dating to November 1341 which records an assize taken at Lincoln late in July 1340 before the three justices. The petition is unlikely to be too much later than this.
