Nature of request
Marchaunt requests remedy and that his wages that are in arrears for 2 years be paid as he has lost everything. He was ordered by the prior by Grandison his attorney to supply the castle of the Isle during the war.
Nature of endorsement
It is ordered to the prior that he should pay to Marchaunt before the feast of St John the Baptist what is found by his rolls to be due, and let a writ be made on this because the prior confessed before the king that . . . at his wages . . .as much of the wages as remain to be paid to him.

Otho (Otto) de Graunson (Grandison).
Note
The guard notes date this to c. 1278-1279 and then give a reference to JUST 1/1157. The two do not tally as JUST 1/1157 dates to 27 Edw. I or 1298-9. The petition therefore dates approximately to 1298-1299, though it is unclear how long the prior of Wenlock held office in the Isles.
