- The petition dates to c. 1279 when the abbot and convent were granted a weekly fair and an annual fair at Wyk upon Hull (CChR 1257-1300, p.214). Clearly the petition is later, and it is not possible to assess how much later, but this by its hand is clearly an early petition.
