Nature of request
Moricez requests that the treasurer and barons of the English Exchequer be order to cease their demands from him, and that he be pardoned the sum demanded from him by them, or that he have an allowance against the 200 marks of arrears owed to him. He was granted a certain sum for his costs in maintaining men at arms for which he received part payment from the treasurer of Ireland. The petition must date to after 1344 when Ufford was appointed justiciar of Ireland on 10 February (CPR 1343-5, p.197). Connolly opts for a later date of c. 1352, but on what basis is unclear ('Irish Ancient Petitions' pp.21-2).
