Nature of request
Mere requests that he be able to go to his law concerning the prebend of Grytton in the cathedral church of Lincoln. Mere was granted the prebend of Gretton by the pope and accepted it whereby he was admitted to the church a long time before the statute against apostolic provision, but he did not dare take physical possession for fear of denying the king's royal majesty and by the penalty ordained by the statute.
Nature of endorsement
The king by his grace with the assent of his council in parliament has granted a licence to the petitioner to pursue in Court Christian the execution of his provision and to take corporal possession of the prebend in the form of law because it is void in the court notwithstanding the statute of provisors.
