Nature of request
Moubray requests that his small estate and the service done by his father until his death without reward be considered and writs will be commanded to the chamberlain of Berwick to make execution and try the cause there according to the usage and custom of the country as was agreed and made to the people of both sides by indenture of the king so that in case that the purport of his supplication be found true that he be able to freely enjoy his lands since he and his father have lost their inheritance in Scotland because of their adherence and loyalty to the king, and if it found otherwise then let the lands be at the will of the king. Whilst the petitioner was overseas he ordained Bolton and York as his attorneys of his lands of Tynedale. Bolton without his companion's assent, and Moubray's agreement and representing the petitioner as being dead took seisin of his lands in Tynedale to his own use by which the ministers took the lands into the king's hand.

The petition has been dated to the last third of the fourteenth century on the basis that the petitioner's father, Alexander Mowbray, was still alive in 1361 (see SC 8/62/3066)
