Description
Petitioners
Robert de Mounthaut (Monhaut).
Name(s)
de Mounthaut (Monhaut), Robert
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
1) Mounthaut requests that the rolls of Chancery be searched for his assignment of his portion of the inheritance from the earl of Arundel which his ancestor failed to sue for, and that it be commanded that the remainder of the fees and advowsons of this inheritance be assigned to him by writ.2) Mounthaut requests that the presentment made by Bernak to the church of Attleborough be void as he is not one of the d'Aubigny heirs, and this advowson was not assigned to any of the heirs, and Bernak had made it as appendant to land called le Plessy with which he was enfeoffed by Tateshale.3) Mounthaut requests that the rolls of Chancery be searched to see whether le Plessy is held of the king, as Bernak has alleged that it is not and that it was entered by a purparty after the death of the earl's widow and that the justices of the plea in the Bench between Bernak and Mounthaut be ordered to proceed to go to judgment and not allow an inquisition to his disinheritance.4) Mounthaut requests delivery of the advowson of the church of Brigham.

Note
The petition is dated in the guard notes to 1297-1303. This is on the basis of two entries in the fine rolls. The first of these is less certain as it refers to the order to deliver to one Robert de Monhaut the lands of his late brother (CFR 1272-1307, p.297). The other is more certain as it refers to the death of Robert de Tateshale who does not seem to have been dead at the time of the making of this petition (CFR 1272-1307, p.480)
