Mulssen requests that he is pardoned the rent that he pays to the castle of Bamburgh and to the sheriff of Newcastle for the manor of Mousen until he can take a profit from it because it is entirely destroyed by the Scottish enemies.1)
Nature of endorsement
It pleases the king that he should have a pardon of the rent for the next year, and he should have a writ on this to the person or persons to whom it concerns.2) Coram rege et magno consilio.

This petition has been dated on its guard to 1318 (Docs. Illus. English History, p. 44). Since this was a time of heightened Scottish raiding across the English border the date is highly plausible.
