Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/62/3051
Date
[1307-1308]
Description
Petitioners
Peter Mynge, Mariner.
Name(s)
Mynge, Peter
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Gironde, [Gascony, France]
Blaye, [Gascony, France].
Nature of request
Mynge requests that his writ de liberate be sent to the treasurer and chamberlains to pay him the £23 17s 10d wages that he is owed for his service in his boat in the Gironde off the town of Blaye during the war. He has the writ but he has not been able to have payment.
Nature of endorsement
He should show his letters patent of the king, and he should have a new writ of liberate to the treasurer and chamberlains of the Exchequer.
Note
The original order to the treasurer to pay the requested sum to Mynge was issued on 8 April 1305 (C 62/81 m 4), but seemingly was not carried out, and another order for the same amount was issued on 1 April 1308 (C 62/84 m 3). The petition, which refers to Mynge's service under the 'king's father', clearly dates from between the death of Edward I in July 1307 and the issue of the second order in April 1308.
