Nature of request
Morpath requests remedy as his houses were demolished by Harcla and Swinburn and the commons of Carlisle during the seige of the city by the Scots in aid of its defence without any reparation.
Nature of endorsement
Let certain men be assigned in Chancery to enquire of the cause that his houses were demolished and all other necessary articles, and the inquisition be returned into Chancery. The king is to be advised and will do justice.

Note
The petition dates to c. 1316 as the siege ran from 22 July to 1 August 1316, and the petition obviously postdates that. Strangely Bain ascribes this to 1315 (Bain, vol. III, p.88 (no.464)).
