Nature of request
The petitioners request that the king will ratify and confirm their estate in 2 messuages in London bequeathed to them by Henry de London. The petitioners state that Edward III granted to the burgesses of London that they be able to devise in their testament their lands and rents at mortmain without licence notwithstanding the statute of mortmain, but London in the time of Edward I devised to the predecessors of the supplicant the messuages in the city which are held of the king and the rent pertains to him.
