Melkessam requests remedy as he holds his land in the county of Yorkshire from Roger de Mowbray in fee, but he is repeatedly distrained by Sleseby, bailiff of the honour of Richmond though his land does not lie in his jurisdiction so that he is unable to have any profit from his land.

The petition appears to date to c. 1290 when an inquisition into the matter probably held in response to the petition was held (CIM 1216-1307, no.1510). The matter was still live in 1292 (CPR 1281-92, p.513).
