Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/61/3001
Date
[c. 1370]
Description
Petitioners
Walter, Lord Mauny.
Name(s)
Lord Mauny, Walter
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Lord Mauny requests that a suitable remedy be ordained for him as he ought to have his rents, farms and other profits from his lands in Ireland for the repair of his castle of Carlow which is in the marches of Leinster. But for the last two years the justices and ministers of the king have assigned these rents, farms and other profits at their will so that he does not receive anything for the maintenance of the castle that has fallen into disrepair.
Nature of endorsement
An answer to this bill was given in full parliament.
Places mentioned
Carlow, [County Carlow, Ireland]
Marches of Leinster, [Ireland].
People mentioned
Constable of the castle of Carlow.
Note
The petition has been assigned the dates 1368-72 on the guard but no reason has been given to justify this. Since the petition is written in a later fourteenth century style and there is no indication that it was enrolled (a characteristic of early fourteenth century petitions) it would seem a date of c. 1370 is quite plausible.
