Middle East: Ottoman Empire, Persia. 'Chia Surkh [Chah-i-Shurkh] and Qasr-i-Shirin [Qasr-e-Shirin]': 2 copies of a map (of territory now in Iran and Iraq) showing the works of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. Reference table; reference notes to item 6. Scale: 1 inch to 4.76 miles. Lithographed for the Foreign Office by Harrison and Sons, Saint Martins Lane, September 1912. MS additional title to item 6: 'Mr Soane's Map of 1912'; MS additions, coloured, showing the de facto Turco-Persian frontier and 3 proposed alternative frontiers; reference table to additions. Item 5 is a reprint, incorporating these additions. Both items signed: E B Soane, 9 September 1912. Originally enclosed with: (5) a print of despatch number 182 from Sir Gerard Lowther, British Ambassador, Constantinople: Foreign Office Confidential Print, Daily Print Section, Persia B, 2836h-1, 8 March 1913; (6) Lowther's original despatch, 4 March 1913.
