India. Map of the Gulf of Bengal from Palmyra Point to Chittagong, showing rivers, deltas, present and proposed railway lines, proposed line of canal, sand bars, depth soundings and lightships. Surveyed by Capt Richard Lloyd, Indian Navy, 1840. Insets show (i) the bar of the River Hooghly surveyed by Mr A Bedford, 1854 and (ii) Akyab (now Sittwe), the port of the Arracan (Arakan, now Rakhine) Rivers. A 'Sketch Map of Tea and Coal Localities in Assam' is also shown. Reference notes giving sailing instructions, trade data and other information. Scale not shown. Originally enclosed in 'Summary of Paper [on] Reviews of Steam Navigation on the Bengal Rivers by Andw. Henderson July 1858', itself accompanying a letter to Lord Ellenborough, President of the Board of Control (of India).
