Newcastle to Cumberland, acknowledging receipt of the preliminary peace articles etc. The king is consoled by the fact that the terms are better than those offered in 1747. Sandwich has been instructed not to exchange the articles until Cumberland has informed him of the date when hostilities cease. Newcastle will instruct Robinson to urge the Austrians to accept the agreement. Dated (OS) at Whitehall. ff.
