Newcastle to Cumberland (private): Bentinck is to present another memorial desiring a categorical answer to the [Dutch] demand for a loan of £300,000. The king's satisfaction with Cumberland's letter to Sandwich [SP 87/24/50, 51] and his handling of Bathiani. Newcastle and Bedford have informed Messrs. Wasner and Ossorio of the Dutch neglect of their defence. He suggests Cumberland writes a strong letter to the prince of Orange telling him to order his minister to concert with Sandwich at Aix [la Chapelle]. He is to forward the enclosed dispatch for Robinson to Vienna as quickly as possible. Dated (OS) at Whitehall. ff. 162-168
