Telegram [not in item] reporting that the chief justice of Barbados, the chief justice of St Lucia and the attorney general of St Vincent have been recommended by the Executive Council to form a special commission to try a large number of prisoners charged with crimes of violence committed during the recent disturbances in Barbados. Colonial Office has no objection to officers named, but enquires as to authority under which such a commission may be appointed. [See also CO 321/9/35].
