Defensive organisation: replies to confidential despatch of 9 December 1875 and forwards copy of a report on the subject from Colonel Whitworth Porter, Royal Engineers, commander of the forces in Barbados, who suggests a large increase in the police force and the organisation of an efficient militia. Colonial Office minutes only in item; telegram printed as confidential print, West Indian No. 24 of 1876 (CO 884/3/4).
