Prince of Orange to Cumberland: he would have hoped that conditions were more favourable in Zealand and on the Brabant frontier, so that they could have sent this corps when the grand army advanced. But it would be risking too much if Prince [Saxe] Hildenburghausen's corps were to rejoin the army. If Cumberland could attack the enemy without moving far from Bergen op Zoom and Breda, this could change the system, but it would only be for this purpose, and for a few days only that the corps could reinforce the allied army. If Cumberland still wishes to speak to him, he suggests they meet at Bergen op Zoom. Dated at The Hague. ff. 325, 326
