Description

Cumberland to Chesterfield: he cannot imagine that the French will remain inactive in the presence of their king. Anson's victory [Finisterre]. His request for promotions was confined to major generals and brigadiers. Exchange of prisoners. He encloses a copy of Colonel Cockayne's transactions with M Seigneur in Antwerp [SP 87/22/157. Dated at headquarters at 'Bauwel'. PS on the prince of Orange's intentions. He is sending Ligonier to The Hague to consult with him. ff. 308-310
