Charles Stuart [deputy consul at Veere] [to Harrington]: the French have at Ostend six large transports ready to sail for Scotland with 1,500 or 1,800 Irish troops, and at Dunkirk two privateers loaded with arms etc. He is sending a packet boat to the admiral in the Downs. He wonders whether he should be writing to Tweeddale or Harrington. Dated at Flushing. ff. 89, 90
