Newcastle to Fawkener: the lords of the council have expressed their sense of the courageous conduct of Cumberland [at Fontenoy]. Price and Mordaunt's regiments will embark for Ostend within days, and Handaside's shortly thereafter. The Irish drafts will depart from Cork. The lords of the council have softened some of Cumberland's remarks on the conduct of the Dutch [at Fontenoy] for the published version of his report. Dated (OS) at Whitehall. ff. 337-340
