Newcastle to Fawkener: the king is detained at Harwich by contrary winds. Cumberland's reputation enhanced [by Fontenoy]. The king has suggested sending a third regiment, Handaside's, with those of Mordaunt and Price, and this has been referred to the lords of the council. Negotiations for Hessian troops. Recruits from Ireland and drafts from the guards. The Dutch do justice to Cumberland. Dated (OS) at Whitehall. PS. to keep the letter's contents secret. ff. 334-336
