Fawkener to Newcastle: the French have moved over the Dender, between Alost and Ninove. The hussars have burnt what was left in their old camp. They may attempt to intercept the former garrison of Ostend, but Cumberland has sent a force to conduct it to Mons. Deserters and sailors to be sent to Flushing, together with the persons who know Sir Hector McClean. He encloses a copy of the depositions of the deserters [SP 87/19/122]. Arrangements for the arrival of the Hessians. Deliberate delay of the French in releasing the prisoners. A date for the imperial election and coronation. Dated at camp at Vilvoorde. ff. 313-315
