Cumberland to Newcastle: because of Saxe's equivocation, the garrison of Ostend will not return to England as soon as hoped. He encloses a copy of their march route [SP 87/19/116]. But he can embark any number of infantry at twelve hours warning. He expects the enemy to retire behind the Dender. He has complained to Saxe [SP 87/19/117] of the behaviour of the garrison's escort, Fitzjames's Irish brigade, and encloses a copy of his answer [SP 87/19/118].
