Cumberland to Newcastle: he doubts the French really intend to invade, but suggests that the two battalions embarked for Ostend should stay there, so that the whole garrison of Ostend can sail for the Thames if needed. Further transports should be sent to Antwerp. He is prepared to bring the whole British corps home if necessary. The French appear to be sending a detachment to the Rhine. He intends to deploy the army along the canal. He favours the ransoming of Belle-Isle and his brother. He encloses a state of clothing and accoutrements for the recruits from Ireland SP 87/19/89]. Dated at camp at Zaventem. ff. 235-237
