States general of the United Provinces to Königsegg (copy): as a result of the setback before Tournai the states are immediately sending to Brussels five of the seven battalions they have kept in reserve. They will be under Waldeck's command. They will also represent to the British ministers that the king should bring the allied army's strength back to 40,000. They suggest he should reinforce the army with some battalions from Luxembourg, to be replaced by recruits. Dated at The Hague. ff. 25, 26
