Description
Petitioners
Edmund Maubaunk, bailiff of the queen in the honour of Eagle.
Name(s)
Maubaunk, Edmund
Addressees
King and council.
Occupation
bailiff of the queen in the honour of Eagle
Nature of request
1) Maubaunk shows that the manor of Westcott is a parcel of the honour of Eagle as appears by many inquisitions in the escheatry. The sheriff of Surrey will not allow the ministers of the queen to levy her scutage, and has accroached it to himself to the disinheritance of the king and against the liberty granted to the queen.2) Maubank requests that judgement be rendered for the suit that has been pending for a long time in King's Bench between the king and the earl of Arundel concerning the keeping of the lands of Bohun according to the inquisitions returned into the Bench, and which lands are in the hand of the king until the matter is discussed.1)
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the first petition it is ordered to the sheriff that he should permit the queen and her bailiffs to practise his office within the manor if it is a parcel of the manor just as elsewhere in the honour.2) Concerning the second it is ordered by a writ to the justices that they should proceed to final issue of the business. And if there are difficulties the king should be certified in parliament.
