Description

Dennis le Marchaunt (Merchant); Matthew de Saumareis.
Name(s)
Marchaunt (Merchant); de Saumareis, Dennis; Matthew
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioners request that the king and council make their grace according to the form and endorsement of the bill previously delivered into parliament whereof they have sued at court for this for 2 years since they have had nothing but incurred expenses. The petitioners delivered a bill into parliament for themselves and their partners for certain tenements which formerly belonged to St Remy in Guernsey. The bill was endorsed by the auditors that the king by his grace ought to order the amendment of certain defaults found in the process concerning the bill. They prayed that the king hear the bill and the bill was delivered to Eyliston to show it to the king, who delivered it to the chancellor and he does not wish to deliver it.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
Isle of Guernsey.
People mentioned

Robert de Eyliston.
Note
The petition seems to date to c. 1324, when a clearly related entry led to the restoration of the lands held by the Marchaunts and others (CPR 1321-4, p.439).
