Description

Nature of request
Marton requests remedy as he was discharged of sums with which he had been charged by ministers of the king in Essex by justices assigned to enquire of those ministers by a long suit that he made concerning a sum that he was assized of in his absence. This sum was for the ministers common fine, and it was found that Marton had not been indicted or accused of any crime by which he ought to have been charged for any fine as appears by the record of the process. Nevertheless by an error in the record after the judgement rendered for the discharge he has been charged in aid of the common fine for £6, which money is now currently in demand on him by summons of the Exchequer.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered by a writ to the treasurer and chamberlains that they make the tenor of the record and process of the things contained in this petition to come into Chancery, and if they accord with the transcript sewn to this petition then let it be ordered to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they search for the demand made to Marton for the £6 by virtue of the words that are erroneously entered, and joined to this record after the award of the discharge made of £30, and by reason of the estreats of this, it is ordered by the justices in the Exchequer and Marton be discharged of both sums of money.
