Nature of request
Mareschall requests that since she has no other sustenance that remedy and justice be done to her that she not lose the tenements by default, the tenements lying in Wark in the liberty of Tynedale which are now seised in the hand of the king with the other lands that were the bishop of Durham's within the same liberty. Mareschal's father granted to her and her husband by his charter of certain tenements in Grindon. Her husband, whom she could not contradict, alienated the tenements to King Alexander whereby they came into the hand of the bishop of Durham. Following her husband's death she sued to the bishop but could not have her right.
